The Smartypants series is so apt for young minds that are always brimming with questions! So, when we were offered this book for review, I jumped at the opportunity!

True to Anushka Ravishankar’s style, the book is funny and informative. Vaccines by Smartypants helps you explain vaccines to the smartypants or the curious cats in your home in the simplest way possible. Not just vaccines, it helps explain the immune system, antibodies and T cells as well without confusing the young minds.

There are some books, that need to be read in the right way to enjoy them and this is one of those books. The best way to read this book would be to role play. In our case, I was the curious cat while Ishani read the book to me which was absolute fun. After we read the book, I encouraged her to ask more questions on the topic and the discussion steered towards the vaccine chart at the back of her Doctor visits file and some of the vaccines mentioned in the list.

What I really appreciated about the book was how simply it explains the complex topic of how a vaccine works. The conversation style of writing makes it extremely child friendly and interesting.

Every curious 6+ year old should read this book. Should you wish to explore the topic of vaccines in a fun way with your little one, you do not need to look any further.

There are more books in this Smartypants series and I plan to explore them as well. You can read Achira’s review of GRAVITY here, and Amardeep’s review of EVOLUTION here.
