Searching for the perfect book to introduce the festivities surrounding Ramadan and Eid? We have the perfect book for you!
‘Saaz’s Search’ is a delightful book about the spirit of Eid and the joyous charitable spirit surrounding it!
The story begins with young Saaz receiving a book as a part of his Eidee. This sets off a quest to find “the perfect spot” to dive into his favourite book! This must be something that is relatable to most of us and our book-loving children! My 4 year old Sid was in splits about how Saaz kept looking for new nook to read his book. This prompted him to do the same (just for laughs!) – we read a few pages in the garden, a few in the kitchen and finished the book under the dining table!
Mamta Nainy spins another heartwarming story which celebrates the traditional cultural roots as well adding a humourous touch to what Eid is truly about!
Saaz’s search is not just a quest to find a cosy cranny for his reading but it’s also a journey to discover the true meaning of Eid. The ending of the story is as wholesome as an iftar and as sweet as sheer khurma.
Another aspect I truly appreciated was the author’s note about the festival of Eid as well as a glossary of cultural words used. Debasish Sarma’s illustrations are adorable and bring the story to life.
Your search for a book to introduce the spirit of Ramadan and Eid ends with ‘Saaz’s Search’!
