Kindness cannot be taught until seen or experienced. This is what I grew up learning from my grandmother. The joy I experienced as a child while feeding a dog or bringing water near a thirsty cow or sheltering street puppies during rains still brings smile to me.

This book is about Mahavira’s (one of the prominent spiritual teachers of Jainism) act of kindness in the most non-religious manner that my 4.5 year old daughter understood in a very easy way.

Are you kind? Do you practice it? Is it easy to practice it? How can you be kind? Are there ways to learn kindness?

This beautifully illustrated book by Debasmita Dasgupta answers all these questions in the most enlightening way.

It talks about how we should be kind to each and every living soul – right from an ant to an elephant – because every creature has a right to live. And sometimes we forget to respect that.

You must have read a lot of books on kindness. But the way this book encourages to be kind even to the tiniest being (who cannot express) is one of the most beautiful feelings. It talks about how we should be kind to each and every living soul – right from an ant to an elephant – because every creature has a right to live. And sometimes we forget to respect that. This point is exactly what Dhyana and I liked the most – that every creature is important irrespective of its size. It teaches us to treat everyone equal.

I wish my daughters imbibe kindness and make their journey more meaningful and beautiful. As they say, be kind even when no one is watching you. It should become a habit rather than an act.

This beautiful book sums up enforcing different ways to be kind. I am sure each one wants to inculcate kindness in her child.

I’m really thankful to Asha for letting me review this beautiful book and Chitwan @adidevpress for penning it down so delicately.
