Do Gods and Goddesses descend from the heavens to mingle amidst the mortals and test us?
Author Rachna Chhabria’s wonderful chapter book tells a tale of one such instance, where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati visit earth to test their devotees in Magadhpur!

Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are pleased with two devotees: a rich merchant, Mani Ram and a poor washerman, Golak Nath. Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva weave an intricate plan to change the destiny of these two mortals. Both the devotees are presented with the same challenges and opportunities.

One rises to the occasion and wisely grows richer whereas the other squanders away any opportunity that comes his way. Goddess Parvati pities the poor Golak Nath and tries to help him change his destiny.

With rich yet lucid descriptive language along with exquisite illustrations, this chapter book is a wonderful way for your child to dive into the world of mythology. The story holds your attention as it traces the ups and downs of the characters’ journeys.

A gentle lesson in altruism and the power of being compassionate to all are the biggest take aways from this read. A kind word or a gesture makes a big difference to someone.
