Fall had rolled into Garden Glen, and with it came a bit of a mood dip — the front yards weren’t looking their cheerful selves anymore. But enter Millie Fleur (New York Times Bestselling Character), our beloved resident landscape horticulturist, who decides this is a challenge worth taking on! Instead of letting the neighborhood stay dull, she dreams up a plan to transform it with pumpkins — because really, is there a more perfect fall plant? She carefully picks her varieties and gets her hands in the soil, and (without giving too much away) a fun little twist along the way leads to an overflowing, gorgeous pumpkin patch and the happiest of endings.

We’d previously read and reviewed Millie Fleur’s Poison Garden with our little one, so we came into this one with high expectations — and it did not disappoint! The storytelling is just as charming, and the illustrations are a real highlight. The pumpkin patch scenes and the composting process especially come alive on the page, making it as visually delightful as it is educational.

A few things this book beautifully teaches young readers:

🌱 There’s always a fresh perspective waiting — When the Garden Glen residents felt down about fall’s arrival, Millie showed them how to turn “gloomy” into gorgeous. A lovely reminder for kids that setbacks can be reframed into opportunities.

For me the real validation – my little girl, who asks for this book every single night! Because as far as she’s concerned, a garden full of gorgeous pumpkins in Garden Glen is not a problem, it’s a celebration.
