For millennia, the moon has been a magical and mystical entity – holding a special place in folklore and astronomy across the world.

This book provides a wonderful introduction to Earth’s silver satellite along with an introduction to some basic constellations.

Based on a Celtic folktale, this short story is about a young boy named O’win who is enamored by the moon. One night, when a mysterious shadow threatens to swallow up the moon.

O’win rushes to his friends, the Bear, the Lion and the Swan to try and rescue his celestial friend. What follows is a delightful re-telling of a popular folktale about how the constellations came into being and trying to solve the mystery of the shadow that tried to devour the moon!

The illustrations are beautiful and my 4 year old son, Sid loved to trace the stars that made up the constellations. What really left Sid spell bound was the simple yet informative introduction to the lunar eclipse and the phases of the moon! He was intrigued to know various constellations and is keen to try out the activities listed at the end of the book!

If you are looking for a book to introduce the basics of astronomy to your kiddo, this is the right book! This book is sure to leave your kiddos moon-struck and turn them into tiny star-gazing space enthusiasts!
