A Mythical Tale-Good or Evil???

Posting this review on behalf of my 12 year old, Divit who is a huge fan of Greek mythology and Percy Jackson.

If you’re a Percy Jackson fan, then the name Rick Riordan should ring a bell. He’s the world-famous author of the glorious Percy Jackson series and many more. This book is another one of his wonderful works, which is second in the series of Nico Di Angelo. It is the sequel to the book, ‘The Sun and the Star’, in which Nico and Will enter Tartarus and battle with Nyx, the goddess of night.

Meet Nico Di Angelo, the son of Hades, also commonly known as a “grumpy ball of darkness.” If darkness could be a person, it would be him, even though he isn’t remotely sinister. Now, let me introduce you to Will Solace, the son of Apollo. He’s a born optimist and seems to be radiating light. They get along extremely well, proving the theory that opposites attract. Their daily life includes fighting vile villains and defeating menacing monsters. However, their life had become peaceful. Maybe a little too peaceful? After taking hell, Tartarus, by storm, it seemed that no ‘big bad’ had arisen! Little did they know, that this was just the calm before the storm.

When they were just getting too bored of their new, peaceful life, Nico’s sister Hazel urgently called them to Camp Jupiter for help and they leapt at the chance. A group of monsters, who preferred to be called mythics, had arrived at the Roman camp. Nico and Will’s expertise made them the perfect people to decide whether they were evil or not. Were they really sinister? Well, nobody knew for sure, but they claimed they were innocent and desired a peaceful life. Could they be trusted? Things took a suspicious turn when the mythics began disappearing. Nico and Will were determined to get to the bottom of this mystery and discover the truth once and for all.

This is a story of friendship and loyalty. It’s a thrilling adventure of believing in something and standing up for what’s right. It tells us that friends can be found in the unlikeliest of places, and all one needs to do is see the good in others.

Rick Riordan’s clear writing style paints a vivid image in our minds, describing the events in a way that encourages us to read on. Mark Oshiro’s witty style blends perfectly with Rick Riordan’s creating this beauty of a story! The occasional illustrations are a pleasant surprise and are simply amazing! Join Nico and Will on their epic adventure, as they attempt to save a couple of mythical lives.

If you are a fan of Greek mythology and love everything about demigods, this book will surely take you back to the world of Percy Jackson. Percy fans guess what – Percy even makes a short appearance in the story!

P.S. You might feel that style of writing is little different since this is co-authored with Mark Oshiro but it is still a treat for all Percy fans.
