The Very Hungry Caterpillar is the most favorite story of all times for young ones especially infants and toddlers. I don’t think I know a single mom who hasn’t purchased this story book. The best part is that it comes in so many variations. I myself own three copies of the same book. One is a simple hard cover, the other a soft cover and finally a hard print that also has a finger puppet attached to it. My kid loved that one when he was just one year old.
I loved how this story brings a transformation of a caterpillar to a butterfly with a little fun with numbers and a lot of food for a tiny caterpillar. I read this story when my boy was not even 1. And again till he was 4 years olf. My boy enjoyed the bright pictures and the puppet and when he grew older to 3-4 years he would laugh at all the piles of food the caterpillar would eat. Then he would be so amazed at the fact that a “crawly caterpillar” as my boy would say turned into a pretty butterfly. Just for fun I said to my child after reading the book
“ What would happen if you eat all that food just like the hungry caterpillar?” For a moment my boy thought maybe he would turn into a butterfly. But I said “A big tummy ache!”
It’s a must have book about a simple story of one of the most miraculous natural phenomenon. Not only in India this story book is also popular world wide. It is educational with a combination of counting, colors and names of foods. Feel free to read the words together and enjoy!

I too have this book. Some schools have included this book in nursery curriculum. Wonderful book. My girl love to listen again and again. Show to all our relatives and friends. The concept of explaining was so simple..she use to search caterpillars in garden and say this story. Indeed Must Have book for every toddler.
