A Hero’s Story We Loved Together❤️
It’s not everyday you find a book that captivates both a grown-up and a little one so completely, but this book truly did.
For Avi, it was all about the amazing journey of Shri Kailash Satyarthi, who we learned is a real-life Hero. We talked a lot about how he helped children who didn’t go to school or play because they had to work. We also spoke about how some people were forced to do only certain jobs and why the society treats them like untouchables. Avi was really sad to here all this but was super excited to hear how Shri Kailash Satyarthi was brave and worked hard to make things right. We imagined him on his adventures, helping kids and it made us feel like we could help people too, even in small ways.
For me, as an adult, the book was incredibly moving and inspiring. It beautifully narrates Shri Kailash Satyarthi’s life, from his early days witnessing injustice, being ostracized by his own family to his powerful activism against child labor. Reading about his leadership in the Global March Against Child Labor and his tireless efforts with organizations like Bachpan Bachao Andolan filled me with immense respect. And, of course, learning about his Nobel Peace Prize, which he shared with Malala Yousafzai in 2014, was a powerful moment for both of us. It showed us that being kind and helping others can lead to really big, important things.
“The Seeker of Truth” is not just a biography, but is a powerful and accessible way to introduce important concepts like social justice, empathy, and courage to young readers. It sparked wonderful conversations between us about being fair, helping friends, power of education and standing up for what’s right. I absolutely recommend this book for any parent looking for a meaningful read-aloud that will inspire both them and their child. It’s a testament to the idea that even the biggest problems can be tackled with bravery and a heart full of truth.
