If I can get a book that will show my son another view on gender roles, then it really helps in broadening his perspective. That is why this mom enjoyed this book.

The book is about the sinking of the supertanker, the Amoco Cadiz, that sank off the coast of Brittany in France in March 1978, spilling 227000 tonnes of oil into the ocean. The story is narrated from the point of view of a little child, Yann, who belongs to a fisherman’s family.
I’m amazed at how lovely and beautiful this book is. It manages to be funny, and provides age appropriate information about menstruation without providing too much information which would either make the child or the parents uncomfortable.
This book talks about ten different, driven, and determined people who protest and fight for human rights and help the weaker sections of society to live with dignity. These are heroes of our country without capes.
