As a mother to a growing son, I was intrigued by the theme of this book. I literally hunt for ways to impart the best values that I feel will help him today and in the future. A boy cooking and cleaning is something I wanted to normalize. Gender stereotypes are all around us. At times it becomes very difficult to keep those gender stereotypes away from children. If I can get a book that will show him another view on gender roles, then it really helps in broadening his perspective. That is why this mom enjoyed this book. It seemed fun to read. My kid read it without even putting it down. It was gripping and enjoyable. He read it all in one day. Here is what my son had to say about it.

“I really enjoyed reading this hilarious book. It is full of exciting stuff and I honestly finished this book in 5 hours! In this story, A boy named Pinkoo Shergill is very passionate about cooking but his Papa wants him to become an Olympic shooter. Pinkoo wants to participate in a cooking contest.

Pinkoo takes the help of his friends Manu and Nimrat and his younger brother, Tutu. The 2 morals of this story are ‘you can cook without a pair of strong hands but you always need a strong will’ and the other is that ‘you can always learn from your mistakes.’

Will he have no chance but to be an Olympic shooter or will he be able to fulfill his dreams to become the junior bake-a-thon participant? You will have to read this book to find out.

The book is about 184 pages. It has some really funny pictures inside the book that makes it more enjoyable to read. I recommend this book to all my friends – girls and boys because we all are pretty much similar.” – Reyansh.
