Review: The Germ Academy

As a toddler parent, I’ve struggled with explaining the Covid-19 pandemic to my 4 year old. Why does he have to be locked up inside the house? Why does he have to wear a mask? Why does he have to keep washing his hands? You obviously cannot tell a toddler that there is a mysterious virus out there, and that all the doctors in the world are struggling to contain its impacts. The book ‘The Germ Academy’ has cleverly explained the phenomenon from the perspective of a child. ​

The book talks about how all the animals visit the water hole and how they leave the place because the water hole dries up. When it rains, the water hole is filled up again and the animals come back. The illustrations are beautifully painted like real scenes from a jungle.

Of the many books being read to Baby S, who is nearing 1 soon, many of them being board books, he often enjoys picture books (could be because of the illustrations or that he’s curious to know what I’m reading to him). To introduce him to various topics, a book from each category as mentioned below, were being read to him. With passing time, I’m sure he would appreciate and love them even more.
