Najwa is a Scrabble player. The best Scrabble player. Along with a group of other players, Scrabble is her life. However, Najwa has been haunted by the mysterious death of her best friend, the matchless Queen of the Tiles: Trina.
Despite the police’s report saying it was accidental, everybody has their own suspicions. Najwa is finally ready to come back to the tournament where Trina died and start playing Scrabble for the first time since then. Najwa is determined to win, because the winner will be crowned Queen of the Tiles. However, Trina’s account somehow begins posting clues to her death (or murder) and Najwa teams up with Trina’s boyfriend, Mark, to solve it. Can they uncover a deep-buried truth before the next Queen of the Tiles rises from the ashes?
I thought Queen of the Tiles was an enthralling story. The vocabulary and description particularly brought the book to life, and makes you feel what Najwa is feeling. The plot was also engaging with many twists and turns, ending with a marvelous conclusion. Overall, Queen of The Tiles brings an immersive experience, and is a fantastic book.
