It was an amazing experience to read and know about the food, festivals and lingo of Anglo Indians. The illustrations are beautiful and we spent the maximum amount of time with this book. This book is an absolute must read for everyone who wants to know about the lives of the lesser-known communities in India.
The book itself can be treated as an introduction to the world of the master story teller, Mr. Satyajit Ray. But I bet no one can predict the twists his tales. The book doesn’t end with the stories. It has a very unique, “Things to think about” on the last page. It is full of ideas for creative writers.
This book has so many amazing illustrations done by the author herself! There are many things in this fantabulous book. There are idioms for e.g., aafat par eeda, meaning: problem after problems. There are also scrumptious recipes that make your mouth water even after you look at the drawings!
If there are genres in ghost stories, they are all in here. Along with some strange settings, from Mumbai local trains to park benches to even a graveyard in USA. All in all, these are eleven dark and twisted stories, with a contemporary India thread running through.
