Do you know about Petu Pumpkin? His name is Pushkin but his friends call him Petu Pumpkin because his tummy is like an endless pit and all he does the whole day is EATS!
This book is about Pushkin AKA Petu Pumpkin and his friends trying to save their school playground which was about to be converted into a ghastly mall! So the school came up with a new rule: the kids were not allowed to go to the playground during breaks! Everyone was shocked to hear about this rule and they knew they had to do something. To add to their agony, their games teacher was also fired. It was now on Petu and his gang to save the playground.
They decide to take the matter in their own hands and planned to protest like the brave and valiant freedom fighters of India. Their plan had an amazing strategy – it involved using methods of peaceful protest inspired by Mahatma Gandhiji, in order to convince everyone that building a boring mall in place of the lovely playground was an extremely bad idea. They put in their all – from building placards, staging protests, going on a hunger strike, doing rasta roko to save their beloved playground. The daring Petu even dressed up as Mahatma Gandhi! Will all their efforts pay off? Will they be able to save their playground or they will never get their games period again?
I love reading Petu Pumpkin books and my favourite character is Kiran because he literally knows everything. I also like the beautiful illustrations of the book.
The book teaches us about being respectful towards the values of our country. It inspires us to believe in being united and fighting for what is right together. As they say- Unity is strength. We should always believe in this and never give up.
If you haven’t read the previous Petu Pumpkin books, you must! They are ROFL hilarious.
