Title: Inni And Bobo Find Each Other
Authors: Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu
Illustrator: Rituparna Sarkar
Recommended Age: 4 – 7 years
This book is special to us as it is the first author reading session we went to! The authors have done a fabulous job with this book. It gives an opportunity to talk to children about so many different things- adoption (adopting dogs as well as adoption in general), acceptance, loving with all your heart, decision making.
The story is about a little girl, Inni, whose parents take her to a dog adoption centre to adopt one pup. Inni wants to take all the dogs home but they do not have room for so many dogs at home so she has to choose one. Inni initially does not like the idea; if she can have so many toys then why can’t she have so many dogs! Daddy quickly explains how dogs need to be taken care of and she won’t have the time to take care of so many dogs. So, Inni agrees to choose one pup. How does she decide which one to get? She finds one who is like her.
The one who is afraid like her and who finds comfort in love just like her. It brings home the fact that each of us is afraid of something or the other and each of us have our own safe place which gives us comfort. The description about Bobo’s fears is so real and so is the love that is showered on Bobo by all the other dogs.
‘Adopt don’t shop’ mentioned in one of the illustrations gives an opportunity to talk about what is adoption, why should we adopt.
The book is so full of love and emotions and very relatable for children. The story is beautifully illustrated which kept the 4 year old absolutely glued to the book.
There are other books in the Inni and Bobo Adventures series as well. Inni and Bobo go to the park has been reviewed here.
