Author: Varsha Seshan

Publisher: Duckbill Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House India
Type: Paperback
Length: 80 pages
Recommended Age: 7 – 10 years
Two close friends – Geet and Rima, full of energy and ideas, set their hearts on winning the prize at their school fest. Rather than choosing a small or ordinary plan, they dream big and come up with different bold, unique ideas for their stall. With some initial capital borrowed from their parents, they carefully plan and set up their business.
Along the way, they face tough competition from other stalls and even have a few minor arguments with their school friend Ritika, which tests their patience and teamwork. Many of their ideas do not succeed and they experience small failures. Will Geet & Rima give up? Would they learn from their failures and adapt their ideas?
Think big, be different!
A story that highlights teamwork, creativity, and perseverance – showing how they overcome challenges and learn that the true reward is not just winning, but the courage to take risks and the lessons they gain together.
My 8 year old daughter – Ananya had been in full Harry Potter mode for months and was reluctant to switch her TBR when this book arrived. But the moment she saw the cover, it caught her attention—and one day, on her own, she decided to take it along to school. Here is her review.
Mom: Oh, finally you picked this book up?
Ananya: The girl on the book cover is so ME! She has specs, short hair like me. Geet’s BFF also stays in her building just like mine. We are so similar!
Ananya: Geet & Rima keep making so many plans just like what Seya & I do. We also have people like the boys in the book who trouble us but we deal with them in a similar manner. And I also love to think big, like Geet.
Mom: Yeah, that’s true! What did you learn from the story?
Ananya: It’s good to win but okay if we don’t. The important thing is to try our best.
Ananya: Also, the font size was big – I was tired of the small font in the HP book. So a good break!
hOle books are a must read for any independent reader (ideally for 6.5+ YO) – the stories are short and crisp with big font size and illustrations in between to break the text monotony.
Happy Reading, everyone!
