PICTURE BOOKS
Papa’s Butter Chicken by Monica Saigal for 3-6/7 years (32 pages). Sritama has shared a brilliant review with inside pix and more here in the kbc fb group. Excerpts: Monica helps her father make butter chicken while listening to his childhood memory about the dish. They spend a lovely time cooking. She also plans to have a father-daughter time together when they enjoy the dish. However, things take a different turn when relatives and neighbours start arriving one by one to taste Dina’s (Monica’s father) famous butter chicken. It disappoints Monica who doesn’t want to share the moment with anyone. What happens next…?
The book cover and illustrations inside the book are lovely and colourful. My daughter loves the book so much that she decided to recreate the dish with her father from the recipe provided at the back of the book.”
The Best Cow in Show by Andy Cutbill and illustrated by Russell Ayto (we all love his CATS AND ROBBERS!!!)
Pumpkin Soup by Helen Cooper for 3-5/6 years. Sritama has shared inside pages and her review here in the fb group. Excerpts: “A cat, a duck and a squirrel used to live in a small cottage in the woods and every night they used to make pumpkin soup. While Cat cut the pumpkins, Squirrel stirred the soup. Duck was only allowed to add a pipkin of salt to it. Then, one morning, when Duck decides that it was time for him to stir the soup and take the role of Squirrel, there starts a row amongst them.
When Aadya was around 2.5 years old, she used to love the book so much that we had to read it out to her all the time so that she almost knew the words of the book by heart.”
