I’m posting this review on behalf of my 9 yo daughter.

If you are Shikari Shambu fan, then you have already noticed little Shambu’s cap covering his eyes and you are already wondering if little Shambu and Shikari Shambu are related.

The Adventures of Little Shambu is a series of chapter books with 6 short stories in each book. This series features the childhood of our dearest wildlife explorer Shikari Shambu.

Little Shambu is very keen to gather more information about animals. He understands the danger wild animals cause and the trouble curious pets can get into. He is always thrilled around animals whether he is visiting a relative’s farm or an animal rescue centre. It is very funny how his normal day could turn into an adventure anytime and anywhere on the planet earth.

This is the second book of the series. In these six stories, little Shambu bravely jumps into an angry bear’s den to protect his pet Dum Dum, wisely identifies a rattlesnake, naively saves a bear family from Madaari and adamantly helps a non-venomous snake escape. He is also being praised for teaching lessons to JJ the bully while visiting his neighbor Shanti and a temple in Kerala.

I liked the rattlesnake story the most because of his naughty baby cousin Mini. The last story ends on a humorous twist with a toad thanking little Shambu for saving his life. It is just by chance that every time he is seen as the one saving the day when actually he himself is still figuring out what’s happening around.

There are lots of wildlife facts to know through these fun stories. Although it is not a comic magazine but still the illustrations are equally funny like comics. All the MEOWRR, ROARRR, PHURRRR and RNAAAA look so nostalgic.

I could go all day about this Shambu prequel from children’s most cherished series, Tinkle.
