This review is written by Kyra. She’s 9 years old and loves reading everything. One of her favourite things is learning new words especially the interesting kinds like bumfuzzle. She also loves mysteries and puzzles and so this book, Young Detective was quite perfect for her.

Young Detective is written by Sumita Bose. When I got to know the author has written books on Maths an Autism, I was extremely surprised and it added to the interest I had for the book.

This is a book of twelve mysteries, followed by some additional puzzles and facts. It is very fascinating idea as I haven’t read any book where I can solve the mysteries along with the detective.

It is a very short book and I completed reading it quite quickly. I enjoyed reading all the mysteries. Each mystery had a new detective and a new set of characters. The book felt more like a series of intriguing puzzles rather than short stories. Speaking about individual mysteries, I ended up breaking my head over them and was able to only solve a few. I specifically enjoyed the mystery named “The laptop”. I felt that the clue was quite interesting.

I just wish the book had more story and that all the detectives were kids.

All in all I liked the book.
