Book: The Gruffalo’s Child
Author: Julia Donaldson
Illustrated by Axel Scheffler
Age 3-7 years

Once every few weeks I visit my local library and check out a dozen books to read to my almost 3 year old daughter. I keep rotating between books & authors to expose her to a variety and to keep her interested. There are always a few books she is not that interested in and of course there are a few she wants me to read to her over and over again.

One of those super loved books is ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’

Little one was a little over 2 when I got this as a part of recommended reads from the library and I was super skeptical looking at the scary looking Gruffalo. However, she loved him from the word go – so much so that this has been one of the most read books and she can recite it from memory!

A sequel to ‘The Gruffalo’, (read review here) this book can be read independently too. A sweet story of how Gruffalo stops his daughter from wandering into the woods to save her from a ‘Big Bad Mouse’.

We meet this mouse in Book 1 and he uses his wits and smartness to get out of any scary situation, first with the Gruffalo and then with his daughter in this book.

Thanks to this book, I discovered what an amazing writer Julia Donaldson is and have read many books from her collection since. (All of them are available on Amazon).
