It gives us immense pleasure to review one of Tota books. We never got a chance to read any Mamta Nainy’s work. I never thought the first book by her will be a review book from kbc.
The first thing that catches the eye are the illustrations (salute to Shubhshree Mathur). Shubhshree has potrayed the words through her illustrations in an impeccable way.
Mamta Nainy’s writing is crisp and full of ingenuity which takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of vivid imagination.
Aaji vs Daar-ji is a cute little tussle between Binni and Timmi who while travelling back from school are exaggerating the superpowers (love) of their Aaji and Daar-ji. Both are confident enough that their respective grandparent is stronger and will reach ahead of the other to pick them up at the bus stop.
The lovely tussle between the two leads into an imaginary battle of how Aaji and Daar-ji like superheroes jump across oceans and skies to reach their lovely children.
Adi (my 7 yo son), was smitten by how Aaji and Daar-ji could do unfathomable things just to reach their lovely grandkids. He was floored when Daar-ji was picking trucks and Aaji was outrunning tigers. It really charged his imagination.
The book shows the unbiased love towards the family and how high the kids look up to their grandparents. In their eyes family can do anything just to reach them.
All in all, it’s a hilarious tale of love and bond that every child should have in their library.
