As a parent, I’m always on the lookout for books that not only engage my toddler but also help nurture emotional awareness in a gentle, meaningful way. Growing up, we were surrounded by positive reinforcement too —and now, when I read to my little one, I find myself wanting to recreate that same sense of warmth and kindness.

“Light Up My Heart” is one of those rare gems that truly lives up to its name. The moment we opened the first page, it felt like we had stepped into a cozy, magical world—think whimsical fairy homes, unicorns and kind-hearted friends on every page.

We’ve been reading it together every day for the past week, and here are just a few beautiful lessons my 3-year-old has picked up:

1. Helping family and friends when they need us—because kindness is to showcase. (I’m still teaching her about setting boundaries with strangers, so we still choose family and friends in our messaging.)

2. Cheering someone up can be as simple as dancing, singing, or just being present with them.

The language is simple and heartfelt—perfect for a toddler—and the illustrations are absolutely enchanting. So much so that my daughter asks for this book every single day, pointing out tiny details in the artwork and asking questions that lead to the sweetest conversations.

Every time we read it, I feel a little spark of joy myself. It’s a reminder to see the beauty around us and to approach each day with a grateful, open heart.

If you’re looking for a story that gently teaches kindness, empathy, and joy—wrapped in a magical little package—this book is a must-have. It has truly lit up our hearts, and I know it will light up yours too.
