Devarsh’s recommended books!

Hello everyone,

I am writing this post on behalf of my 3 yo son, Devarsh, (lovingly we call him Joy) as a part of the #kbcKeepCalmAndReadOn Campaign. I have been collecting age appropriate books for him since he was 9 moths old. Fortunately, have gathered quite a number of collections till now, courtesy Kidsbookcafe and Asha ma’am via this wonderful platform.

So, here goes the list:

  1. Pinocchio (my detailed review here)

This book by Ladybird is a story of a puppet who turns out to be a real boy. The maker of this puppet was amazed to see that the puppet started talking all of a sudden. He had always wanted a little boy of his own. However, the puppet was very naughty. He never wanted to go to school. So he runs away in the woods. The fun of the story starts from there. A humourous read for kids of 3-6 yrs.

2. The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Eric Carle books are known for its creative storyline for kids. This is a wonderful conceptualised book for toddlers of 0-3 yrs. This is a hardcover book with colourful pictures. The story is about how a little egg hatches, a tiny caterpillar comes out of it and gorges on various kinds of food to become a beautiful butterfly. The book has beautifully illustrated the kinds of food good and not good for us. Kids will definitely relate to this very well. I and my son enjoyed reading it every time.

3. Rani and the Safari surprise (read my detailed review here)

This book by Anita Badhwar is a funny book. A lovely story about a princess who goes for a safari in the jungle. She gets all her favourite sweet items and other eatables packed. She enjoys watching the various animals. On her return journey, she gets a surprise in one of her snack boxes after she reaches her palace. Can you guess, what was the surprise? Oh no! I am not going to tell you that. For that you need to read the book.

4. The Berenstain Bears go to school

This book written by Stan and Jan Berenstain is a story about the little Berenstain sister who fears to go to school as she would be starting her school journey first time. However, as she enters her new school classroom, she was more than happy to spend time there. This book is a must have for those parents with kids who dread going to school for the first time. I have been highly benefitted with this book. The idea of playgroup wonderfully illustrated.

5. What the Ladybird heard

A Julia Donaldson book doesn’t need much to say about. The pictures are self explanatory. While going through the book, you will experience as if you are in the farmhouse amongst various animals making various sounds. However, the story is about a ladybird who never said a word, cleverly gets two thieves caught by police. A worthy read especially for those kids who love animals.
